Top shops create a winter wonderland for festive shoppers

Sensational seasonal shopfronts in Dovercourt High Street delighted festive shoppers on the hunt for those special presents for their loved ones this Christmas.

Our wonderful businesses joined in the seasonal shop window competition which was run as part of the High Street Accelerator programme.

A grant of £250 was available to High Street shops in the area with shopkeepers challenged to create a festive inspiration in their shop window.

Entrants included Short and Sweet, the traditional sweet shop located at 264 High Street which created a Candy Cane Lane theme in the window, and Snip N Shape salon at 196 High Street which featured a beautiful stars and sparkles display in the shopfront. 

Christmas shoppers had the chance to vote for their favourite shop window with the winner being crowned as the CVST community hub.

The fun festive Christmas Shop Window competition formed part of an ongoing programme of activity which will deliver £737,000 dedicated to this area of Dovercourt and Harwich as part of the government’s High Street Accelerators scheme.

The programme aims to refresh and revive the high street and provide support for retail businesses. The funding will support a number of different projects locally to make the High Street more attractive for people to visit and spend their spare time in.

As well as activities working directly with local shops, the funding will be used to strengthen transport links between the seafront, the High Street and park spaces, while green spaces will be added to the town’s retail areas and access routes into the town centre.
