The World War II – VE Day Talk will talk about Harwich, like all other towns, rejoicing in the turning of the tide.
Although the actual announcement of VE-Day had not the spontaneity of sudden unexpected news of the end of hostilities. There was something spontaneous about the response of the good folk of Harwich and district which, starting quietly and almost unobtrusively.
Streets were decked with flags; tea parties were held, and people took to the town’s churches to give thanks.
